We have a shared responsibility to our beautiful Earth to keep it clean and to coexist with all of nature. Sophia Faye Jewelry is striving to be as sustainable as possible in all facets, and we will continue to be as eco-friendly as possible.
Recycled Metals: After as design is carved in wax or a model is made in base metal, it is brought to the caster to be molded and made into silver or gold. The metals used by our caster are recycled! That means that metal from other sources like old jewelry, silverware, or gold scraps are refined and then used to cast a fresh piece of jewelry. This helps cut back on the amount of new material that is being used from mines- mining can be detrimental to the environment as well as local populations. Our findings and chain come from suppliers who also use recycled metals. Refining and reusing metals is best for everyone!
Padded Mailers: We recently made the switch from plastic padded mailers to 100% recycled paper padded mailers. They are biodegradable and compostable!
Jewelry Boxes: Our chocolate jewelry boxes are made of 100% recycled materials, on average 80% of that is post-consumer. Inside there is non-tarnishing ultra white synthetic cotton filler which is also 100% recycled.
Cotton Drawstring Bags: Our cotton jewelry bags are made of cotton grown and manufactured right here in the United States!
Glassine Tea Bags: With each purchase of Sophia Faye Jewelry there is a little bag of Lavender Earl Grey Tea included! The tea bags are made in Germany from all-natural unbleached paper and are biodegradable and compostable. These are packaged in glassine envelopes so shipping: glassine is a waxy paper that has gone through a process called “calendaring”: rough paper sheets are rolled through hot rollers under pressure. When they come out the paper is extremely smooth and feels waxy. These are also biodegradable and compostable!
If you decide not to keep any of our packaging please be sure to either recycle of compost all parts to keep as much out of landfills as possible. Together let’s work toward minimizing our footprint on the environment, and showing the Mother Earth a little TLC.
